Very sharp in the center, but sharpness falls off on the left and right edges, especially at infinity. I've been using the Pentax D FA 35mm for some time with a GFX 50S, and I'm not all that pleased with it. Thanks for your test that probably saved me a lot of time and money.Īny idea how the Contax 645 35mm compares to the most recent version of the Pentax 645 35mm, the Pentax D FA 645 HD 35mm F3.5? How do you set the aperture on the Contax? I'm using the Hcam DRS for Fuji GFX, so I'll need an adapter (preferably a shift adapter) and therefore will not be able to use a smart/autofocus adapter. I will go on using the TS-E 24mm on the GFX 100 in 35mm crop mode if I need a 24mm-ish focal length.īut I would crop in post because then you have a 24 mm equivalent fov lens with much more shift range than 12mm But the field curvature seems so strong that I do not consider that a solution for me any more. Results could possibly improved by not focusing on the extreme corner but somewhere between extreme corner and optical center of the lens. Or what is your general experience with this lens? Contrast looks much lower too with this lens, compared to the TS-E 24mm. You focused on the shifted corner, which makes field curvature very visible. To me it looks like the Contax 645 35mm has a lot of field curvature which makes the image very soft near image center. Especially interesting for me is the Contax 645 35mm (having covered 50mm focal length by Canons excellent TS-E 50mm L). Thank you very much for that test! That helps a lot.

Using the wetransfer link below you could download the full resolution images, if you are interested. I added red horizontal lines to illustrate the amount of shift, to better determine the useful shift range with sufficient sharpness. That process reduces the image size by a few percent, therefore the slight white frame around these too images. In the shifted images of the two Zeiss lenses, I applied the Alpa lens correction for correcting the linear distortion. I stitched the central image with the fully upwards shifted images.Īll images opened in ACR, slight sharpening 60/0,5/10/40, CA correction applied.

Sorry the uninspiring images but I mainly wanted a detailed motive at the upper left corner area of the shifted image to determine the usable shift according the image circles of the lenses.

Lenses all set to f11, Canon lenses 12mm shift, Zeiss 15mm shift.įocus in live view at shifted corner area which gives a better general sharpness over the frame according my experience, than focussing at the center, considering the image couverture of the lenses. So I had time to do a few informal tests with shift lenses on the GFX100. Not much to do during these corona virus times in Guangzhou.
